
FSSAI license is applicable to all food businesses to ensure safe and wholesome food for human consumption, based on the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. A large-scale food businesses with an annual turnover exceeding Rs. 20 crore or any Food Business operates in Import or Export Food Product has mandatory to apply FSSAI Central License.
The FSSAI Central License is mandatory for businesses that fall under the following categories:
Businesses with an annual turnover exceeding ₹20 crore.
- Business operates in Import or Export of Food Products.
Central government agencies involved in food distribution (e.g., Railways, Airports, Seaports).
- E-commerce.
Storage with warehouses a capacity exceeding 50,000 metric tons.
Dairy units handling more than 50,000 liters of milk per day or 2,500 metric tons of milk solids per annum.
Slaughtering units handling more than 50 large animals, 150 small animals, or 1,000 poultry birds per day.
Vegetable oil processing units with a capacity exceeding 2 metric tons per day.
Meat processing units with a capacity exceeding 500 kg per day or 150 metric tons per annum.

Fill out Form B for the Central License.
- Upload the required documents.
Pay the applicable license fee online through the portal.
An FSSAI officer may conduct an inspection of your premises to verify compliance with food safety standards.
If the application and inspection are satisfactory, the FSSAI Central License will be issued within 60 days.

Blueprint/layout plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions in metres/square metres and operation-wise area allocation
- List of Directors/Partners/Proprietor with full address and contact details with nomination of authorized signatory
- Name and List of Equipments and Machinery along with the number, installed capacity and horsepower used.
- Analysis report(Chemical & Bacteriological)of water to be used as ingredient in food from a recognized/ public health laboratory to confirm the potability indicating the name of authorized representative of Lab who collected the sample and date of collecting sample. (Not Applicable if water is not being used as ingredient)
- Photo I.D and address proof issued by Government authority of Proprietor/Partner/Director(s)/Authorised Signatory.
- Proof of possession of premises. (Sale deed/ Rent agreement/ Electricity bill, etc.)
- Partnership Deed/Self Declaration for Proprietorship/Memorandum & Articles of Association towards the constitution of the firm / Copy of certificate obtained under Coop Act-1861/ Multi State Coop Act-2002 in case of Cooperative.
- Form IX: Nomination of Person as per Clause 2.5of FSS Rules, 2008 (Not applicable in case of Proprietor)
